On Monday, April 10 2017, a murder-suicide shooting occurred at North Park Elementary School in San Bernardino, CA. It was around 10:30 am when first-responders got word of the incident.
The shooter was Cedric Anderson, 53, from Riverside, CA. He walked into the classroom where his wife, Karen Eliane Smith, 53, was a teacher. Anderson had entered the school office explaining he was there to drop something off for his wife. However, the couple was going through a rough patch the last couple months and Smith had wished for things to stay private. Others say that is why they had not suspected anything odd about Anderson’s visit to the school. When he walked in, he started shooting without saying a word.
Two students were harmed during the shooting. They were both standing behind the teacher while he was firing. 8-year-old Jonathan Martinez was airlifted to Loma Linda University Medical Center. He passed away moments after arriving in the hospital. The family of Jonathan Martinez did not wish to speak. They did, however, want to bring it to the attention that Jonathan was living with Williams Syndrome. As for the other little boy, he is expected to live after being in critical condition at Loma Linda University Medical Center in Loma Linda, CA.
