The most wanted man on the FBI list has arrived to the United States. He was extradited from Mexico, on January 19, 2017, a gift from the Mexican Government to President Obama. Joaquin Guzman Loera aka “El Chapo,” of the Sinaloa Cartel.
El Chapo is most famous for his daring escape of a Mexican prison. He was guarded 24 hours a day, but he still manages to escape with an elaborate tunnel built underneath the bathroom floor to his cell. El Chapo is facing many charges in a Federal Court all related to drug trafficking and money laundering. It is estimated that he made 14 billion dollars trafficking cocaine and heroin, and murdering over 1000 people, not to mention all the lives that he destroyed. He is facing 17 indictments in New York alone, but also there are other states that have charges pending against him like: California, Texas, Florida, and New Hampshire, which has a hike in heroin abuse. It is thought that he transported over 440,000 pounds of cocaine into the United States El Chapo is now spending time in one of the harshest prison, Metropolitan Correctional Center, that houses the infamous Bernie Madoff and the terrorist Omar Abdel Rahman. The cells are called “Ice Boxes,” because the walls, bed, desk, and chair are all made of cement. Homeland Security said, “There is no way he will be escaping from the bathroom in this prison.” He is facing Life without parole, and not the death penalty because the United States waived it, otherwise Mexico would not let him go.
